Why we exist
The AI tools space is exploding. Hundreds of new tools ship every month. Marketing copy is everywhere. It's increasingly hard to know what's genuinely useful versus what's hype.
We started AIToolWeigh because we were frustrated buying tools based on glowing reviews, only to find they barely worked. So we built a place that puts tools through their paces with real tasks — not vendor-supplied demos.
How we test
For every comparison and review, we:
- Sign up for the actual product (free tier and paid where applicable)
- Use it for our own work — writing, coding, research, design
- Test edge cases, not just the happy path
- Document real outputs with real screenshots
- Note limitations honestly, including ones the marketing page doesn't mention
Editorial independence
We use affiliate links. When you click through and subscribe to a tool, we sometimes earn a commission. This is how the site stays free.
However: our editorial decisions are never influenced by affiliate relationships. If a tool is bad, we say so — even if they have a generous affiliate program. If a tool is great but has no affiliate program, we'll still recommend it.
